Perfect Exercise for All | Swimming

Is there a one exercise that could be called the best? Yes! We called it swimming. Actually there may not be a form of exercise that people can do than swimming. From toddlers whose parents take them to learn to swim class, to senior citizens working out in the pool; sure, swimming can be a lifetime sport.

It’s also an activity for all ability levels ranging from an all time best Olympic athlete like great swimmer Michael Phelps, to someone who may be partially disabled. They can both get a good workout to help themselves in the swimming pool. Swimming is one of the only healthy workouts in which all parts of the body are utilized. It will help you lose more weight, tone your muscles and improve your general overall health. When people talk about swimming they picture a fit person gliding their way through the water. But people who are out of shape or even disabled in some ways can get exercise in the water with different forms of swimming, such as using a paddle board or additional assistance from a physical therapist.
Water creates resistance 10 times greater than air, so whatever style of swimming you’re doing will work your body muscles. Because you’re floating in the water, joint or other pains you might have while walking or running on land will be non existent or much less noticeable in the water. Swimming will immediately begin to improve your aerobic health, strengthening your heart and in turn allowing blood to be circulated faster through the body. And with a stronger heart and overall body, you’ll be better able to fight off a variety of diseases. Trainers I’ve spoken with recommend that people who are going to begin a swimming regimen start by only going for 12-16 minutes. And of course talk with your family doctor or certified trainer before starting any type of new workout program.
